Meal kit delivery service Blue Apron recently debuted its first pop-up shop in New York City, which is open six days a week through June 24. The latest step in the the company’s initiative to build and maintain a brick-and-mortar presence, the pop-up features panel talks and cooking classes from renowned chefs including Tamar Adler and Marco Canora, as well as a selection of Blue Apron products available for purchase. Each week has a theme that informs the programming, like “Party Vibes” or “Fam Jam.”
While New York is the first to experience Blue Apron’s shop, the company has scheduled similar two-day pop-ups for Seattle, Los Angeles and San Francisco, plus free outdoor movie screenings complete with summer activities in other cities. In another bid to expand its reach, Blue Apron is also beginning to make its meal kits available in stores, and recently made a deal with Costco to sell products in its Pacific Northwest clubs.
