After a series of teasers and a crucial Memorandum of Understanding, Chery Automobile has officially returned to Singapore. The launch was marked by the opening of the new OMODA-JAECOO showroom at 3 Ubi Road 4 on 23 May 2024. Chery’s comeback is under the management of its long-standing partner, Vertex Automobile, and introduces two new brands: OMODA and JAECOO.

The event also celebrated the launch of the OMODA E5, Chery’s first new model in Singapore in a decade. This all-electric vehicle leads Chery’s renewed push for a stronger global presence. The OMODA-JAECOO showroom, the first of its kind in Southeast Asia, boasts a futuristic design with digital walls and spacious areas, reflecting Chery’s youthful brand identity.

OMODA targets trendy individuals, while JAECOO focuses on rugged SUVs with off-road capabilities. The showroom is divided into two sections for each brand, with a shared area known as the ‘O&J Space’. Both brands’ portfolios consist entirely of new energy vehicles, aligning with Singapore’s clean energy goals.

The OMODA E5 stands out with its sleek design, featuring narrow LED daytime running lights and a cleanly designed cabin with a 24.6-inch curved screen. The vehicle includes eco-leather seats, an eight-speaker Sony sound system, and advanced connectivity features. Powered by a 150kW motor and a 61kWh battery, the E5 can travel up to 430km on a single charge and supports fast charging.

Chery’s future plans include introducing the JAECOO J7 plug-in hybrid later this year and several other models by 2025, promising an impressive lineup of six new vehicles for Singapore.
