IKEA offers paid roles in virtual Roblox store.
IKEA will pay Roblox players £13.15 or €14.80 per hour to work at its new virtual store, set to launch on June 24 under the name “The Co-Worker.” The initiative allows players to create virtual dream homes using IKEA furniture and offers limited paid, fully remote roles. Applications, open from June 3 to June 16, require applicants to be 18 or older and residents of the UK or Ireland.
Prospective employees must complete a questionnaire and submit an updated CV, with optional video submissions. Successful candidates will undergo virtual interviews between June 14 and June 18. IKEA promises an hourly rate for 10 available roles.
The virtual store will feature the Swedish Food Market and Bistro, offering IKEA’s iconic dishes, and allow players to explore and reorganize virtual showrooms. Exclusive user-generated content prizes will also be available.
Darren Taylor, IKEA’s Country People and Culture Manager, said, “We’re excited to showcase our unique careers philosophy on Roblox, allowing co-workers to grow in any direction, both in-game and in the real world.”
