Kingfisher surpasses environmental targets in latest responsible business report.
Kingfisher, the parent company of B&Q and Screwfix, has released its 2023/24 Responsible Business Report, showcasing substantial advancements in sustainability and corporate responsibility. The report highlights the company’s achievement of a 62% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions, significantly exceeding its 2025/26 target of 37.8%. This places Kingfisher as a leader in the industry’s efforts to combat climate change.
Additionally, the report details Kingfisher’s success in integrating sustainable practices across its operations, with nearly half of its total sales (£6.4bn) now coming from Sustainable Home Products (SHPs). The company has also made strides in inclusivity, with women holding 28.6% of senior leadership roles and 39.6% of management positions as it approaches its 2025/26 goals.
Community engagement is a core element of Kingfisher’s strategy, with over 3.2 million people benefiting from its housing support projects since 2016/17. The retailer’s introduction of a green star product mark further emphasizes its commitment to environmental sustainability and consumer empowerment.
CEO Thierry Garnier expresses optimism about the company’s direction, noting significant progress on multiple fronts, underscoring Kingfisher’s pledge to lead the home improvement sector in responsible business and energy efficiency practices.
